Perception and interpretation intertwine as they do they filter the meaning of life and ask questions about, who, what, and where one is. This self-portrait questions if the stranger within knows if to show himself as confident. Images are created and often that idea of self is not a confident person. Optimism prevails, and expressions take the front seat.

Many might remember slow dancing (Slow Dragging), but I remember looking at how the light moved through the darkness. In this painting, the texture of intensity and the illusion of reflective color as it lays attached to other colors had to dominate, yet hide but not take center stage over the expression or mood set by the pair dancing. Equally, so, the suggestion of movement is captured by the absence of form on one level, yet not on another.
Lady in the Shade
Oil painting “Lady in The Shade” focuses on subject’s situation and not on facial characteristics. The situation is to hide from the sun. However, be covered on by the huge flowerpot. What an evening of a day to hide from the sun.
