Description
Ritual Dance is a 6 by 8 ft oil painting. It is about how common a woman’s cycle is with the earth’s cycle, and their life and death rotations. One group of figures are painted in green that symbolizes the spring and summer/life, and the other in white with orange hair, which symbolizes the fall and winter/death. This ceremony is the first part of a week journey into womanhood. Aged women are the only ceremonial persons enabled to pass on this empowering rights-of-passage. An authority of passing the torch of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding to those young women approaching adulthood. At the end of this week, each new adult woman would have learnt the earths decree. Which is to become mother of the life source, a place of refuge, and a transporter of a life into death.
